If you're here, there's probably a good chance you know who I am. I for one can't imagine someone typing neilmcdougall.com by accident, unless it involved the flukiest computer-induced epileptic seizure in the history of the internet. In case that did happen, dear reader, get well soon. But just in case you're here legitimately, let me fill you in on who I am. I'm Neil McDougall, a musician, a Scot, a recording engineer, sometimes a producer, sometimes a martial artist, generally a bit of a geek, loved by his friends, feared by his enemies, blah blah blah. I've played in a few bands, most notably Room 1 and The Reverend Neil McDougall, and I've worked with a few bands in a production/engineering role, most notably The Mocha Nights. I've also written and recorded a bunch of songs on my own back, firstly using a Korg D-8 digital 8-track recorder, then once I got my current PC, I switched to using Cakewalk sequencer software for all the work (not just drum programming). I play guitar, bass, a little keyboard/piano, a bit of drums and I'm an okay singer. My tastes in music run a wide spectrum, from The Beatles to Bloodbath, but generally my favourite bands tend to be in the general genre area of progressive rock and metal, particularly my Holy Trinity of bands, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and Opeth. If you're not hip to any of these bands, do yourself a favour and check them out. There's other bands I like in the links section as well. I'm a fan of science fiction, martial arts (I practice the martial art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and occasionally study Kenpo Karate), reading, writing, and video games. Pretty much a stereotypical geek I suppose. And proud of it. :-P A few fast facts: * My favourite colours are green
and black. Handy that, seeing as I wear a black gi for martial arts and
I'm a 9th Kyu green belt. Eh, anyway, that's enough prattle. If you really want to know more, feel free to email me. It's a bit more convenient than stalking. |
